Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert

Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert is an Enemies to Lovers Contemporary Romance, set in a bed and breakfast in an adorable small town!

Okay, let’s be realistic here. Get a Life, Chloe Brown was one of my favorite audiobooks of 2019. Take a Hint, Dani Brown was in my top 10 audiobooks of 2020. I didn’t expect that Eve would get me just as much as those two characters did. Well… okay… maybe I did a little cause I actually gasped out loud (not kidding) when I got an early listening copy. If ever starting this blog was worth it, it was the moment I got to listen to the Act Your Age, Eve Brown audiobook early!

So yeah, I gasped, and I maybe squealed (okay, I did), and after that, I told myself that this could not possibly be as special as Chloe and Dani because it’s just not healthy to start a book with those kinds of expectations.

And then I started and couldn’t stop! Not only was Ione Butler once again absolutely amazing, but Talia Hibbert’s writing completely got me – once again. I would say after the many hundreds of Romance audiobooks I’ve listened to, I’m a bit jaded and not that easy to amaze anymore. But I was instantly completely in love with both Eve and Jacob. And damn, did the two have chemistry!! I really, really felt it. Hot damn!

Eve is this completely lovable individualist who is trying to work out what she wants to do with her life. She’s had a lot of uncomfortable experiences that have noticeably shaken her self-esteem. But she also just goes for things that look good to her. I found her so admirable! And it was remarkable how the way she is seen by her parents and friends is so different from the way Jacob frames her behavior. That’s why I won’t describe her as flighty here because I don’t think she is.

Which brings us to Jacob!

Jacob is a grump. He is the grumpiest Talia Hibbert hero I’ve read since Griffin from Work For It. And he might actually be grumpier! The way Jacob and Eve end up working together is ridiculous in the best possible way. It felt so Eve and made me laugh and cringe on her behalf. And regardless of how short and rude Jacob is with people at times, he’s also ridiculously lovable with his B&B and the soaps and the weighted blankets and everything. So cute!

The way those two slowly find their way towards each other… Honestly, Talia Hibbert writes the most romantic Romance I can imagine! I’m not a swooner, but I swooned! It was just so cute and wonderful and all the things and I loved the youngest Brown sister at least as much as Chloe and Dani.

Will this be one of my most favorite audiobooks of 2021? Without a doubt! I also have this really strong urge to re-listen to all three Brown Sisters books now. They are my bookish happy place. And I’m so ridiculously much looking forward to Talia Hibbert’s new series set in Skybriar, the town where Jacob’s B&B is.

If you spend only one Audible credit this year, Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert is the book to get for it! It is one of the best Romance audiobooks 2021!

Blurb: Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert

Eve Brown is a certified hot mess. No matter how hard she strives to do right, her life always goes horribly wrong. So she’s given up trying. But when her personal brand of chaos ruins an expensive wedding (someone had to liberate those poor doves), her parents draw the line. It’s time for Eve to grow up and prove herself—even though she’s not entirely sure how…

Jacob Wayne is in control. Always. The bed and breakfast owner’s on a mission to dominate the hospitality industry and he expects nothing less than perfection. So when a purple-haired tornado of a woman turns up out of the blue to interview for his open chef position, he tells her the brutal truth: not a chance in hell. Then she hits him with her car—supposedly by accident. Yeah, right.

Now his arm is broken, his B&B is understaffed, and the dangerously unpredictable Eve is fluttering around, trying to help. Before long, she’s infiltrated his work, his kitchen—and his spare bedroom. Jacob hates everything about it. Or rather, he should. Sunny, chaotic Eve is his natural-born nemesis, but the longer these two enemies spend in close quarters, the more their animosity turns into something else. Like Eve, the heat between them is impossible to ignore… and it’s melting Jacob’s frosty exterior.

I received an early listening copy of Act Your Age, Eve Brown from HarperAudio. It was my decision to write a review!
