The Lovely Audiobooks Top 10 of 2018

… of audiobooks that aren’t necessarily from 2018…

Let me present to you: The Lovely Audiobooks Favorites of 2018!

I have to admit, for a while now I knew I would not be able to make a real top 10 list of books released this year. For two reasons:

#1 As a mood reader, my favorite book today is likely not my favorite book anymore next week. So I could definitely not number them.

#2 My top 2018 books of 2018 would likely not actually be from 2018. As an audiobook listener I often only get my hands on books months after they were first released as ebooks, sometimes even years. And since I like to use the Audible Romance Package and Kindle Unlimited a lot, I have totally embraced my status as a backlist reader.

Lovely Audiobooks Top 10 of 2018

Regardless of that, I listened to a ton of amazing books this year. Without numbering them I want to present them to you as the winners of a bunch of most fantastic categories! And since this is my first year as a book blogger, I will allow myself the freedom of listing books not only from this year but also from before.

So, if you ever wondered which romance audiobook you should give to your husband to make him understand your love for the genre and which story might stay with you for weeks, read my ultimate favorite audiobooks list of 2018, featuring books I listened to in 2018 but that didn’t necessarily come out in 2018:

The Best Pick to Make My Husband understand why Romance Heroes are so Awesome

Hero by Lauren Rowe, narrated by Lauren Rowe and John Lane (2018)

For a long time I have wondered which audiobook I could give my husband to make him understand the appeal of romance heroes. But there was always something wrong here or there. Then I listened to Hero and this one is IT! From being an awesome family man, over being heroic and always respectful towards women, to the incredible sex scenes, this book has my perfect, presentable (to my husband, it’s still very Not Suitable For Speakers at Work) Romance Hero, literally.

A Story I’m Still Thinking About Months After Listening To It

Caught In the Flames by Kacey Shea, narrated by Savannah Peachwood (2018)

This is something I didn’t anticipate when I listened to and reviewed this audiobook. Months later it still randomly pops into my thoughts. What a very special story <3 Read my full review here.

The Audiobook To Randomly Make Me Burst Out Laughing – Even Just Thinking About It

Ball Peen Hammer by Lauren Rowe, narrated by Lauren Rowe and John Lane (2016)

I didn’t want to have two books from the same series featured here, but, hey, it simply had to be listed! And well… son… *giggles uncontrollably* You know… it was…. such a pleasure, Keane 😀 Read my full, spoiler-free review here.

The Audiobook I Can’t Listen To Because Then The Series Will Be Over

The Morning Star by Debra Dunbar, narrated by Angela Rysk (2018)

If you know me, you know that this is my favorite series ever and of all times. I read the ebook the minute it came out. I bought the audiobook the minute it came out. But I didn’t listen to it yet because once I do, it will be the last time I listen to an Imp book for the first time. I hope there will be many novellas and spin-off books narrated by Angela Rysk. She’s the best!

This was such a perfect love story! The characters were interesting, the sex scenes were awesome and it was all-around entertaining and captivating! Read more about it on my book list with my favorite Lesbian audiobooks!

The Audiobook I Most Want to Review But Don’t Have a Category for (yet)

The Hellequin Chronicles by Steve McHugh, narrated by James Langton, later by Simon Mattacks (2013 – 2017)

I found this series in my Kindle Unlimited adventures and became a total fan! This is an absolutely amazing Fantasy series, well narrated and incredibly entertaining. The world and the characters are interesting and I love how many old myths are woven into this captivating storyline. And it’s got great magic on top of that!

The Review I’m Most Looking Forward to Writing

Winter Goddess by Skye MacKinnon, narrated by Laurel Schroeder (2018)

I received this series as free audiobook review copies and just got the last part, yay! I absolutely fell in love with this story and the characters and decided early on to review the entire series in one. But that wasn’t the only reason why I was looking forward so much to this last part coming out on audio! Stay tuned for my review in January.

The Audiobook that Most Reminded Me of a TV Show

The Shark And I by Cara Lockwood, narrated by Amanda Ronconi (2017)

This was a very enjoyable audiobook that reminded me a lot of the TV show Younger. The story is quite different and no one actually lies about their age. But the setting with the 40-year-old mom who’s starting over made me think of it. I liked that show a lot and I also really loved this audiobook. Between all the many 20-something-year-olds, it was so nice to listen to a truly adult romance.

The Most Anticipated Audiobook Series

Lorelei’s Lyric by D.B. Sieders, narrated by Stefanie Kay (2018)

I loved this story, but there was one supporting character I became quite infatuated with. I know he has a book himself and I hope this will come out on audio soon, too! Read my full, spoiler-free review here.

Happy listening!
