How to get the Romance Package outside the USA

Find out how to binge on Romance Audiobooks as a Brit, Canadian, German and from anywhere else

I don’t remember anymore how I found the Romance Package but you would not believe how I squealed at the prospect of listening to so many Romance audiobooks. You get so much value for your money compared to a Gold membership. Obviously, I love telling my fellow listeners about “bingeing on a budget” and I regularly hear that other audiobook addicts living in the EU or Canada assume they could not get the Romance Package because it is not on Audible / .ca and so on. But don’t worry, it’s super easy to subscribe to it no matter where you live. The only obstacle is that you need a credit card (for Audible, not for the guide!!). A Visa debit card works, too.

Quick and easy guide: How to sign up to the Audible Romance Package from Europe (or anywhere else)

Step-by-step guide

Let me walk you through it. For convenience, this guide shows how to sign up using a desktop computer. Later I will also show you how you can get to your new audiobooks in the smartphone app. Don’t worry, it might seem like a lot of steps but they’re all tiny and you’ll be done in 3 minutes!

#1 Click on this banner or navigate to the Romance Package in your browser. The banner is an Affiliate link which means I receive a small fee if you subscribe to your free month through my website. Obviously, it doesn’t cost you anything extra or has any impact on your order. It’s free 😀

#2 You’ll arrive on a page looking like this:

#3 Click on “Try it free” and Amazon will prompt you to login.

#4 Now, this is very easy! Amazon and Audible have a global login. That means you can login to with the exact same email and password that you used yesterday to order a new toothbrush and cat food on your local Amazon! Told you this was easy 😉
Again, don’t make a new account! Just use the one you always use to log into Amazon. Trust me, it will work!

#5 Here we get to the bit where, sadly, not everyone can order the Romance Package. You need a credit card. Debit cards only work if it’s a Visa. If you already use a credit card for Amazon, you are done now. Yay! You can skip on to the next point. If you have a credit card but don’t use it for your Amazon account, you will see this screen and need to put in your information:

#6 Once you’ve added a card to your account, you are now done and can start your Audible Romance Package test month. Whoo!! You can browse around and borrow up to 10 audiobooks at the same time, but as many as you like during the month. Keep in mind, this works just like Kindle Unlimited “read and listen for free”. You borrow the audiobooks and once your subscription runs out, they will be returned. You don’t own them.

We’re signing you up for a test month and, even though you needed your credit card, this is completely free! You can cancel anytime, right away if you wish, and still enjoy a full month of Romance audiobook bliss 🙂

How to listen to your Romance Package audiobooks in the Audible app

We aren’t done yet. There is one more important bit I would like to guide you through so you can enjoy listening on your smartphone or tablet. The Audible app is a bit clutzy. So let me quickly show you how you can dive into your new library in the app.

#1 Open the app and go to the menu:

How to use in your phone app

#2 Open the menu by clicking the three stripes and scroll down to Settings:

#3 Click on settings and then log out of Audible:

#4 Don’t erase your downloaded content! Just click okay and don’t toggle Erase.

#5 Now you are outside on the login-screen. At the bottom you can see which Audible you had logged into previously. For me it was

#6 Click on the marketplace and select .com:

#7 Now you’re back on the login screen, but at the bottom it should say If that is so, use your usual Amazon email and password (the one you used before to order the Romance Package).

How to use in your phone app: log back in

Done! You can now use your app as usual. You can download Romance Package audiobooks that you can either choose in the app or on the desktop. Audiobooks contained in the Romance Package are marked with a purple “R” in the corner. To log back into your local Audible, just follow the same steps. All audiobooks you downloaded from will remain visible in your library. So you can still listen to all of them. In case your Romance Package subscription runs out, they will disappear, no matter which marketplace you are logged into.

You didn’t dare yet, but I could convince you that it’s easy? Click here** and get started!

  1. This is excellent information. I had the romance package for quite a while. I gave it up when reviewing became really busy and I didn’t have time to choose books With as much free time. Of course, the books that I select from NetGalley and other review sites are chosen, but I am trying now to squeeze time and pick books that I don’t owe reviews to.

  2. I do love my audiobooks. I have noticed that the price for the .com is $14.99 a month for 1 credit and the site is 7.99 a month for 1 credit. The .com site is making over $3 more on credit than the UK site.

    1. Yeah, I noticed that, too. A gold or platinum membership there is only worth it together with the Romance Package, because that’s 50% off if you have a sub. The audiobooks are the same everywhere.

  3. Great tutorial. I do listen to audio books but tend to prefer print or ebooks. This post was very useful those. Will bookmark in case I decide to sign up for a package.

  4. I definitely need to start listening to audio books – I’ve only tried a few and they haven’t quite been right for me. Reading through this and how easy it looks to set up is definitely making me feel like I should indulge – thanks!

    1. For me they’re almost a lifesaver. Between work and baby audiobooks allow me to read so much again.
But yeah, it’s important to find the right stories and best narrators to get into it. Definitely always check the samples on audible!
