Phew, dear readers! Is it hot in here or is it just me? Oh, no, it’s THIS BOOK!

I really and truly enjoyed this one a lot. And I was quite surprised about that because I had picked it up through Kindle Unlimited and didn’t expect much. I have to admit, KU often brings more quantity than quality. And I hadn’t heard of Sawyer Bennett before. Shame on me!

For me, this book simply had it all.  A truly compelling storyline, heartache and seriously naughty sex. The very definition of what contemporary romance should be.

Leary is a very strong character. You could probably have long discussions about whether or not it is “okay” to use sex appeal (not sex) as a weapon to further your career. I assume this is something that divides the feminist community right down the middle. I myself can’t do it and, fortunately, it wouldn’t have done anything for me in my chosen career anyway. But I’ve always enjoyed watching characters like this on TV and I can admire it. There, I said it!

The story line is very interesting. I’ve always liked all those lawyer TV shows so I found myself waiting quite excitedly to hear how the case would develop. And we also have to wait quite a while for the big revelation why this specific case is so important to Leary. In between, there’s a lot of sex. But not in a way that felt like the author just wanted to throw in yet another sex scene or didn’t have enough storyline to fill a book. It all fit together very nicely and the book had a great flow.

I think the publisher’s summary is a bit unfair in that regard. I don’t know why it says that Leary and her firm don’t have ethics. Sure, there is the manipulation, but Leary’s law firm does in fact fight only for “the little guy”, so in that sense it is deeply ethical, in my opinion.

The narrations of Kendall Taylor and Sebastian York turned the whole thing into a real “mind movie”. Their voice acting was great and I am really full of praise for the narration. I believe Sebastian York has – deservedly – quite the fan base. Kendall Taylor has a very distinct voice and her sass fits the character of Leary very well. The intonations and different voices were right on point, too. I’ll keep an eye out for more books narrated by her.

So, if you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription, go get it right now. If not, you probably want to get it right now, too!

Publisher’s summary
At the powerhouse law firm of Knight & Payne, winning comes first and ethics a distant second. Leary Michaels uses her female charms to daze opponents, and it’s always worked well – until now. On her most personal case yet, she finds herself going up against a defense attorney just as skilled, shameless, and seductive as she is.

Reeve Holloway has never met a woman as sure of her own sexuality, or as ruthless in wielding it, as Leary is. But he won’t be toyed with. What Leary starts, he’ll finish – in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Reeve’s job is to ruin Leary’s case…even if it destroys her in the process and costs him the woman he’s come to love.

5 out of 5 dirty stars

Mister Moneybags is basically a collection of more or less unpopular story themes, wrapped up in a pretty well crafted package. It is definitely not what you’d expect based on the funny title and the sexy cover.
