RecomMondaytion: Heartbreak Warfare

Military Romance Review

This is a spoiler-free review in regard to the ending, but I will discuss aspects of the story that are potential triggers.

The ebook to Heartbreak Warfare was published in November 2018, so it’s pretty new really. And this surprised me because I had the feeling it has been around forever, considering how many times other Romance readers have recommended it to me. [... read more]

I tried to only pick stand-alones for you. Some of these books are part of a series but work as stand-alone. There are also some great Christmas episodes of beloved and popular series in the Romance Package. But if you’re a fan of a series, you probably know if there’s a holiday episode. That’s why I haven’t included those ๐Ÿ™‚ Since I haven’t listened to all of these audiobooks yet, some books have links to reviews from book bloggers I trust. If you want to know more before picking your holidays listens, click on and check out what they have to say.

This list has audiobooks I’ve either already listened to or that I want to listen to in the next weeks. I hope you’ll like my choices! Simply click on the covers to add them to your Audible library.

Coming Home for Christmas by Jenny Hale

Add it to your library now!**

I absolutely adore the covers for Jenny Hale’s Christmas books. This holiday Romance is a little naughty and a lot nice. While it’s a “sweet Romance” (no sex scenes), it also has a love triangle between our heroine and two brothers. It’s narrated by the fantastic Teri Schnaubelt who has a great range of voices and is a real pleasure to listen to. This is the book I’m currently listening to and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, too ๐Ÿ™‚

If you haven’t read anything from Tiffany Snow yet, you should fix that NOW!

Whenever I feel like suspense, I turn to this author and she never disappoints. This was my third Tiffany Snow series and they all can be picked up in audio “for free” in Kindle Unlimited (click here to check all my KU reviews).

The Tangled Ivy series is about a young woman who falls for a spy. And in the Kathleen Turner series a woman finds herself between two men and in the middle of a deadly conspiracy.

Follow Me has some parallels to the Kathleen Turner series, but is still entirely it’s own thing. China is a protagonist just the way I like them. She’s extremely smart, yet funny and quirky. Well, quirky doesn’t really do it justice. She has a mild form of OCD. She has her very set ways but she also doesn’t break down when “the suspense happens” ๐Ÿ˜‰

I absolutely loved the funny t-shirts! I want to own them all really. This book is a shopping list for the nerdiest shirts. And it’s details like that which make Tiffany Snow’s books so entertaining to me. There’s some serious action going on and they are most definitely suspenseful. Yet they also make me laugh in between.

That being said, I didn’t fully feel the romance in this book. Or rather, China’s feelings were clear of course. But Jackson and Clark didn’t appeal to me so much. But that’s just me I think.

Arielle DeLisle narrates this one and her voice is lovely. It fits the character of China perfectly and she has a very captivating style that builds up the suspense, too. Her intonations and different voices are great and it’s mostly easy to distinguish during dialogue. Her male voices are really nice!

Follow Me is part one in the Corrupted Hearts series. However, this book works perfectly as a stand-alone so it might be a good choice if you want to give Tiffany Snow a try. You don’t need to commit to an entire series right away. This book has a Happy Ending with a teaser for the ongoing story. So you can read it without being left hanging.

Publisher’s summary
Brilliant, quirky twenty-three-year-old China Mack is totally satisfied with her carefully ordered, data-driven life. A computer prodigy who landed a coveted programming job at the cutting-edge tech company Cysnet before even graduating from MIT, China is happiest when following her routine: shower before coffee, pizza only on Mondays, bedtime at ten thirty sharp.

But then things start to get a little…unpredictable.

First Jackson Cooper – Cysnet’s rich, gorgeous, genius CEO – assigns China to a dangerous and highly classified project for a government defense contractor. Her sixteen-year-old runaway niece suddenly arrives in town, begging to move in with China. And then there’s her sexy but oddly unsettling new neighbor, Clark…

Quickly the Cysnet assignment becomes disconcerting – and then downright scary – as key staffers turn up dead. China suspects she’s being followed and isn’t sure whom she can trust. For the first time ever, she’ll have to follow her instincts, rather than logic, if she’s going to survive.
