The Best Romance Audiobooks with Enemies to Lovers
Enemies to Lovers is the most popular Romance trope, so it only makes sense that some of the best Romance audiobooks of all time are all about the journey of enemies to lovers! These books are full of passion and big emotions…
The Hating Game
The Hating Game is the gold standard for Enemies to Lovers novels and one of the best Romance audiobooks of all time! If you haven’t read or listened to it yet, you absolutely should.
I’m always hesitant to pick up hyped books, but believe me, this one deserves all the love and praise. And the movie version was delightful! This is a fun, fast-paced Romantic Comedy and Katie Schorr narrated it beautifully.

Work for It
Work For It is a beautiful, emotional Hate to Love story set in a small town. It’s a bit angsty but the Happy Ending is everything you could hope for!
Talia Hibbert is an amazing author, and this book has such a delicious Enemies to Lovers journey. Shane East and Chance Thoreau did a fantastic job of bringing out all these feelings in their narration.

The banter in Getting Schooled completely cracked me up! And I loved that Jason isn’t your usual flawless Romance hero while Reese is my favorite kind of heroine: Smart and thoughtful, but also a little bit of a weirdo with an utterly unexpected streak (you’ll see when you get there).
The chemistry between Reese and Jason sure is off the charts! And Sean Crisden and Adenrele Ojo are two absolutely outstanding audiobook narrators!

Friends to Lovers Romance Audiobooks
The Friends to Lovers trope works very differently from the Enemies to Lovers trope since the protagonists already know each other, sometimes they are even childhood friends.
While the animosity of enemies makes it easier to create chemistry and passion, friends to lovers books are so wonderful because they often feel much more romantic. The protagonists are pining for each other, they love spending time together but are worried taking it further might destroy the friendship.
Take a Hint, Dani Brown
Dani doesn’t believe in love. And that’s why things have to stay in the friendzone with Zafir. For the sake of Zafir’s charity, the two decide to pose as a couple for social media though.
Dani and Zaf are two of my favorite friends to lovers! Zaf is such an amazingly sweet guy and I physically feel how torn Dani is about her feelings for him. She really wants to make sure he stays in her life. Ione Butler narrates the audiobook, and it is so, so good! One of the best Romance audiobooks ever!
Always Only You
Ren has Frankie friendzoned because she is his co-worker. And Frankie has Ren friendzoned because she is a grump, basically. However, Ren is counting the days until they won’t work for the same hockey team anymore so he can finally ask Frankie out!
Frankie’s and Ren’s grumpy/sunshine romance is one of the best Romance audiobooks about friends becoming lovers! They are so utterly heartwarming and sweet and funny together! CJ Bloom and Nelson Hobbs did a wonderful job bringing these two to life.
Ari and Russell don’t believe that anyone could ever be attracted to them. But when their job keeps bringing them together, they develop a friendship. The romance between Ari and Russell unfolds slowly, and it feels incredibly real and relatable. It’s steamy and tender at the same time!
Ari and Russell both show their vulnerable sides and it’s just so incredibly sweet to see them become trusted friends and then lovers! Sarah Mollo-Christensen did a wonderful narration with such amazing voices for all characters.

The Best Romance Audiobooks with Fake Dating
Fake Relationship is my favorite Romance novel trope. I just adore this twist on “fake it til you make it”. Romance books with this trope are often immensely entertaining and combine a lot of the elements of both Friends to Lovers and Enemies to Lovers.
First Comes Like
Jia and Dev don’t know each other well, but one day, one thing leads to another and the two start making out. And they get caught! Dev knows that this will be a problem for Jia’s family and offers a fake relationship arrangement.
Jia’s and Dev’s love story is utterly unique and so them! Alisha Rai touches on several popular and beloved Romance tropes, but none ever steals the spotlight from Jia’s and Dev’s beautiful growing love. Saira Ayers and Neil Shah are the perfect voices for this wonderful dual point of view Romance novel.
While We Were Dating
Anna is a movie star and Ben works for a marketing agency. When they work on an ad campaign together, the two quickly develop a very deep and meaningful friendship. When Anna needs a companion for some publicity events, Ben agrees to be her fake boyfriend.
Anna and Ben become best friends first before they give in to their chemistry and add “benefits” into the mix. I absolutely loved how Anna and Ben talked and opened up to one another! And the narration by Janina Edwards really brought out their vulnerabilities.
The Love Hypothesis
Olive isn’t interested in romance, but to get her best friend off her back, she claims to be dating. When her friend wants to see proof, Olive ends up claiming to be dating Adam, a professor at their university! He has a reputation as a rather unlikable guy, but for reasons Olive can’t quite figure out, he agrees to be her pretend boyfriend.
The Love Hypothesis was one of the most hyped Romance books of 2021, and for me, it really is one of the best Romance audiobooks of all time! Olive and Adam are so cute and romantic together, and their fake relationship really works. Callie Dalton did a fantastic job with the narration, and this is a real feel-good listen for anyone craving a fake relationship book!

Ruby joins a program to email a soldier where she gets to know Aaron. I loved how deep we dive into Ruby’s thoughts and feelings, as well as her insecurities and doubts in regard to herself and the chance of a future with Aaron. If you have ever met someone “from the internet”, all of this will resonate with you!
The first half of the book is in letter and IM form and narrated in duet style by Callie Dalton and Teddy Hamilton which is a real treat to listen to. The second half is narrated only by Callie Dalton who really brings out Ruby’s feelings.
Spoiler Alert takes us into the world of fanfiction, and the secret identity twist is so much fun! But this is also a very emotional book. Marcus and April have to deal with a lot of serious issues. And it’s just so beautiful how their romance develops online and offline.
This is one of the best Romance audiobooks of all time, and Isabelle Ruther did a fantastic job at bringing this story to life.

The Governess Game
The Governess Game has two of the most hilarious and adorable children in Romance! Their story is heartbreaking and is just as important an aspect of this story as the actual romance between their guardian and their governess (which is also pretty outstanding, Chase is probably my favorite rake ever).
I adored this Historical Romance so very, very much! And the narration by the incredible Mary Jane Wells makes this an all-around delightful listening experience. A must-listen!

The Best Office Romance Audiobooks
What I love about Office Romance books is the forced proximity. You can’t just quit your job because you have feelings for your co-worker and think they might not reciprocate. So, in an office setting, the protagonists have to face their fears!
The Boyfriend Project
Daniel is Samiah’s new and kind of fishy co-worker. But he is also the first guy in a long time who she finds interesting.
The Boyfriend Project is a beautifully written Romantic Comedy with complex and lovable characters, intrigue, and friendship. And Je Nie Fleming brought it all to life with a great range of different voices!
The Marriage Game
Layla is a recruitment consultant and wants to help people find a job. Sam has a corporate downsizing company and helps companies fire people from their jobs. When the two have to share an office space, it is no surprise that they don’t get along well.
The back-and-forth between Sam and Layla is extremely entertaining. And Soneela Nankani brings out their feelings so well!
Something to Talk About
Jo is a very successful Hollywood producer. When she takes her assistant Emma to a red carpet event, everyone assumes the two are having an affair. Jo and Emma both try very hard to keep things professional. But as they navigate the rumors, their relationship slowly develops from professional to friends to lovers.
Something to Talk About is not just a wonderful Office Romance novel, it is also the kind of book that will stay with you long after you finished it. The audiobook is narrated by Jorjeana Marie and Xe Sands which is an absolutely perfect cast and turns this into one of the best Romance audiobooks of all time!

Similar to Office Romance books, College Romance comes with quite a bit of forced proximity. But the protagonists are young, so they also have to figure themself out. They want to experience life. This is a love story that starts in a hook-up app, and it’s so emotional and funny and sexy. An absolute must-listen, both for fans of College Romance books and M/M Romance in general!
Trade Me is simply one of the best Romance audiobooks of all time! I loved Tina’s and Blake’s story, the thrifty badass girl and the heir who isn’t as spoiled as he seems.
Courtney Milan is such a fantastic author and Xe Sands and Sean Crisden are among the best narrators out there. This audiobook is an all around great experience and so worth it!

Fiona Fisher did a wonderful narration for this outstanding book by Penny Reid!

Book Lovers and Book Boyfriends
Romance books are fantastic, but Romance books about book lovers are especially touching! It’s just so wonderful to have a passion for reading in common with the protagonists.
Nesto moves his food truck business from New York to Ithaca where he meets librarian Jude who just can’t stay away from Nesto or his food, even though he struggles with his attraction to men.
This is not only a beautiful Romance, it also tells the important story of how libraries can or cannot make certain books available to teenagers and marginalized groups. This is one of my favorite books about books and one of the best Romance audiobooks on top of that because Sean Crisden is simply superb!
The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics
Rich widow Catherine takes in Lucy, a young woman who learned astronomy and scientific work from her father but struggles to find employment, what with her being a woman and all. While the two fall for each other, they also take the scientific world by storm!
This absolutely lovely Sapphic Historical Romance reminds us of the immense power books have, and Morag Sims brings it all out so wonderfully in the audio version.

Madison has always been a good girl. But she wants to explore her wild side and go out of her comfort zone. So she writes a list of things she wants to experience and pushes resident bad boy Ben to help her.
Make Me Bad is a real feel-good audiobook! It’s an adorable Rom-Com with fun and interesting main characters and amazing narrators.

The Best Historical Romance Audiobooks
Historical Romance plays by different rules than Contemporary Romance books. There are so many more outside issues that threaten to keep the lovers apart. While in Contemporary Romance, the big conflict is often a personal one between the protagonists, it’s outside issues like societal expectations and class differences in Historical Romance.
Not every Historical Romance novel has to be set in England. Rebel by Beverly Jenkins is a beautiful love story! The setting is New Orleans after the Civil War. While that brings with it many serious issues, this book balances it out with wonderfully light, sweet scenes.
Drake and Valinda have such adorable, fun banter. I loved the way they talked with each other! And how could you possibly resist a hero with “pirate blood”?! Drake’s mother was a wonderful side character as well. And the narration by Kim Staunton made me positively devour this audiobook!
A Lady Awakened
A Lady Awakened is without a doubt one of the must-read Historical Romance novels and one of the best Romance audiobooks of all time! This is such an outstanding story that manages a beautiful balance for the heroine.
Martha is very inexperienced in some ways, yet feels so worldly in others. Despite her young age, she takes on full responsibility for her servants and tenants. And it makes perfect sense that she is willing to go all the way to ensure her estate remains in her possession. To that end, she needs to present an heir. Very quickly. So she makes a deal with a rake who was sent to the country because of his questionable behavior in London. And yes, she pays him. This audiobook read by Susan Ericksen is an absolute delight!
The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting
The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting is about a brother and sister who enter the London season to find good matches and “marry up”. KJ Charles lets her protagonists discuss marrying a lord in much more realistic terms than we usually encounter in Historical Romance novels.
This is also, as the title promises, a very gentle story. The siblings are not what you would expect, and neither is Hart, the love interest. The audiobook is narrated by Cornell Collins who always manages to portray KJ Charles’ characters perfectly!

Fantasy and Monster Romance Audiobooks
It feels like a new era of Fantasy Romance has emerged, full of sexy monsters! Some are set in a fantasy world, while others are set in ours similar to Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance.
That Time I got Drunk and Saved a Demon
The Mead Mishaps series is probably my favorite Monster Romance book series! Set fully in a cozy, low-tech, medieval-vibes fantasy world, we accompany Cin in “That Time I Got Drunk And Saved A Demon” as she, well, saves a demon, and then falls for him.
I love the sense of humor in this book, as well as the captivating adventures, and the sweet, sweet love. The perfect mix! The audiobook is narrated by Hazel Addison who has a fantastic range of voices for the human and non-human characters.
Morning Glory Milking Farm
Morning Glory Milking Farm by C.M. Nascosta has been an absolute break-out hit and made Monster Romance even more popular! This is a very well-written indie Romance about a woman who is struggling after finishing college.
When she can’t find a job in her field, she accepts a position as a “milking technician” in a facility that “milks” male Minotaurs to produce potency-enhancing medication for human men. Violet is conflicted about the job but soon finds an entirely new community among supernatural beings.
The audiobook version is narrated by Eva Caine who really brings Violet to life perfectly.
The Dragon’s Bride
The Dragon’s Bride is a fantastic, incredibly captivating book! Briar Rose escapes an abusive marriage by making a deal with a demon. Her part of the bargain is to live with a dragon man and give him a chance to woo her. The dragon, Sol, wants a child. But for Briar, the nature of their relationship – having been traded to Sol – as well as the limited timeframe complicate things. While she quickly starts to like Sol, she isn’t willing to consider a real relationship and a child if she is only allowed to stay in the dragon realm for 7 years!
The audiobook is read by Lessa Lamb and Jack Calihan whose voices match the characters so well! A very addictive listen and one of the best Romance audiobooks you can get!

Who doesn’t love a good meta-level laugh? These Walls Can Talk is an incredibly funny story about a married woman who has the chance to meet her “aural crush”, the narrator she loves the most.

Alexis Hall has quickly become one of my absolute favorite authors. And Glitterland is simply one of the best Romance audiobooks of all time! The complex characters, the unlikely match, the emotions, the struggle… This book will move you and touch you and make you feel all the feelings! Nicholas Boulton brought all of this out so beautifully!
Troy is a Hockey player who chose to stay in the closet. The homophobic slurs he encounters in games put him off any thoughts of coming out. But Harris, the out-and-proud social media manager of his new team, is too fascinating. So, Troy keeps seeking Harris’ company.
This book made me tear up because it was so insanely sweet! I loved how the two guys talked with each other. Their relationship journey is so beautiful and moving! Troy is the kind of tortured hero you just can’t help but love. He comes so far in this book! Cooper North is a wonderful narrator and the perfect fit for this audiobook.
Quell is probably straight and most definitely a movie star… and dealing with depression. When he wants to bring his favorite book to the screen, gay costar Hale becomes his rock.
Unscripted is an extremely emotional Friends to Lovers story and narrators Joel Leslie and John Solo perfectly bring to life the thoughts, feelings, and insecurities of Quell and Hale. This is such a beautiful Romance duology and Unscripted is one of my absolute favorite Romance audiobooks of all time!

Femme Like Her
Nailah has a type: studs. But very feminine Scottie is pursuing her and Nailah is fascinated by the woman! She just can’t stay away and has to reconsider her principles and the reasons for them.
Femme Like Her is incredibly well-written and makes you feel all of Nailah’s thoughts and emotions bone-deep. She and Scottie have this incredible chemistry, and Mari really brought that out in the audiobook narration.
Delilah Green Doesn’t Care
Delilah Green has been through a lot and has built up a very badass, tough outer shell to hide her soft, mushy, artist soul center. Both her love story with Claire, the girl she had been pining for since they were kids, and the journey she takes with her step-sister are heart-wrenching!
All characters in this story are so lovable and I enjoyed the build-up very much. Kristen DiMercurio is absolutely fantastic to listen to! I crushed hard on Delilah.

Bez and her World Federation of Monarchies are looking for the lost heir to a throne. Makeda lives a normal life and has heard the story of her supposed royal heritage countless times. After witnessing what that did to her mother, she wants no part in it though. But Bez is quite persuasive…
Alyssa Cole and Karen Chilton are one of my favorite author/narrator teams and their sapphic love stories are absolutely beautiful. How to Find a Princess is absolutely epic, witty, exciting, hot, and completely charming, just like Bez!

The Love Study is a feel-good, laugh-out-loud funny Romance book! Hank is a snowboarder but after a terrible accident, he needs a wheelchair. Callie is a doctor and his therapist. It was very moving to read how Hank tries to come to terms with his disability and figure out how it would affect all areas of his life. I loved how he bonds with other wheelchair users and how the guys talk openly about their relationships and their abilities in bed.
